5 Reasons to move to Vero Beach, Florida

by Spencer Bailey

Hey everyone, Spencer Bailey here! Today’s video is a little different — I’m coming to you from my backyard in Vero Beach, Florida, to talk about why I decided to settle down here. It's going to be a more personal, casual chat where I share the top five reasons that convinced me to call Vero Beach home.

Without further ado, let’s dive into why Vero Beach is so special to me!

1. Price Point for Ocean Proximity

One of the main reasons I chose Vero Beach is the affordability, especially when you consider how close it is to the ocean. I’m just a 15-minute drive from the beach and only 10 minutes from the river. For the average home price of around $300,000 to $400,000, you’re getting amazing value in terms of location. Compared to places like Port St. Lucie, you’ll find that Vero Beach offers better prices and lower taxes while still maintaining that sought-after Florida lifestyle.

2. The Florida Lifestyle

Living in Vero Beach gives you access to a lifestyle that people dream of. I often tell my friends that what’s just a regular weekend for me is a vacation for most. Here’s an example: a typical weekend for us includes loading up the boat, heading to the sandbar, fishing, and enjoying time on the water. Recently, we caught grouper and mahi-mahi, docked at a local spot to fillet the fish, and had them cooked up for dinner right there. The best part? You don’t need a massive yacht to enjoy this lifestyle. A simple riverboat can get you out on the water for as little as $5,000 to $8,000. This outdoor, laid-back lifestyle is what makes living here unbeatable.

3. A Great Place to Raise a Family

At 28, I’m thinking about starting a family, and I can’t think of a better place to raise kids. Vero Beach is a small town, and that means it’s safe. Crime is minimal here compared to bigger cities, and the community is close-knit. It’s the kind of place where you feel comfortable walking around at night. The schools up until high school are excellent, and even though public high schools here might not be the best (based on my own experience), there are good private options for families seeking quality education. Overall, it’s a great environment to raise a family.

4. Small Town Vibe

I grew up in a tiny town in Minnesota, so I’m used to that small-town vibe, and Vero Beach delivers just that. With a population that’s been steady over the years, it feels like home. People know each other, and there’s a sense of accountability that you don’t get in bigger cities. Everyone here takes pride in their community, and that creates a positive atmosphere where people want to uphold their reputation and be a part of something special. It’s a tight-knit place where you run into familiar faces all the time.

5. Limited Growth

Unlike rapidly expanding areas like Port St. Lucie or Palm Bay, Vero Beach has limited growth, which is something I value. When you move here, you don’t have to worry about it becoming overly congested or drastically changing in just a few years. The steady growth helps maintain the small-town charm, and it’s nice to know that five years from now, Vero Beach will still feel like the same place I fell in love with. Plus, this stability helps with resale value if you’re thinking long-term.

Bonus Reason: The Lush, Tropical Feel

Here’s a little bonus reason for you: the natural beauty of Vero Beach. It feels tropical and lush, almost like you’re in South Florida without the extreme heat. The palm trees, the greenery — it’s all part of the coastal charm that makes this place feel like paradise. Whether you’re walking through a local neighborhood or driving along the coast, the natural beauty is undeniable, and it adds to the overall peaceful vibe.

Conclusion

To quickly recap, the five main reasons I chose to settle down in Vero Beach are:

  1. Affordability for how close it is to the ocean.
  2. The incredible Florida lifestyle — fishing, boating, and enjoying nature.
  3. It’s a safe place to raise a family, with great schools and a close-knit community.
  4. The small-town vibe keeps things personable and neighborly.
  5. The town has limited growth, so it maintains its charm.

And of course, the bonus reason is the lush, tropical environment that makes it feel like a coastal haven.

I hope this video helped you understand why I’m so passionate about Vero Beach. If you’re considering moving to Vero Beach or anywhere on the Treasure Coast, feel free to reach out! I’d love to help you make this beautiful place your home, just like I did.
